Do you have the idea of the fluffy clouds, the halo, playing the harp or maybe eating Philadelphia Cheese Cream? We have heard the messages in church that tell us that we will worship God for eternity and all we can think about is the endless church service or the song that will never end. I can remember as a youngest being told that hymns will be the only music in heaven and at the time I thought, well I don’t want to go.
Where did we get these ideas? From all sorts of places but what is the truth about heaven? What will it look like, what will we do, who will we be with? There are lots of questions but I believe that the best thing about heaven is not where we are or what will happen, but who we are with.
Heaven is the residence of God.
The greatest reward of heaven will be God himself. Nothing we see or experience will be greater than the fact that we are with God and see him face to face. How wonderful it will be to be in the presence of God where we will perfectly know him and know that we are perfectly known and loved.
John writes in the book of Revelation: “And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God’” (Revelation 21:3).
We will have no greater reward or relationship than being with our wonderful God and seeing him face to face. That is the place I’m looking forward to, are you?
