Holy Spirit

Wired for Worship

April 19, 2013 by admin

This Sunday we are continuing our series called “Wired for Worship”.

Worship should matter to us simply because it matters to God. And worship matters to God because He know He’s worthy. I know a statement like that can sound like God has an ego, but it is true. Worship doesn’t begin with us. Worship begins and ends with God. And God is worthy of all praise from all people for all time. He is the center of everything that exists.

I find it amazing that our incredibly powerful and big God, who has never known any shortage of worship, wants to be worshiped by us. Right now. It’s not that He needs any more worship to be worthy. God knows who He is. He knows what He’s worth and he knows that He has made us for His glory.

Louie Giglio in his book ‘The Air I breath’ writes, “Worship is what God is all about….. and God is what worship all about.”

What should our response be to God for all that he has done, is doing and will do in the future?

I pray that we will open to all that the Holy Spirit will lead us to as we dive into this topic.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Ps Andrew

PS Rainbow Kids, Kids Church & Metamorphsis start this Sunday during church.

Forgotten God concludes

March 7, 2013 by admin

This Sunday we will conclude our series called “Forgotten God” which is about looking at the Holy Spirit.

No matter what you have been doing or going through this week, we all have the choice each day to depend on ourselves, to live comfortably, and to try and control our own life. Or we can live, as we were created to live – as a temple of the Holy Spirit of God, as a person dependent on Him, desperate for God the Spirit to show up and make a difference.

My prayer in doing this series has been that it would not merely add to your knowledge. Having a great knowledge about something does not necessarily equal greater spirituality. Knowledge can lead to greater intimacy and a deeper relationship with God, but this is not an automatic effect. The Bible tells us in James that if we know the good we ought to do and don’t do it, we sin (James 4:17) In other words if we stock up knowledge without applying it to our lives we are sinning. Not my words but God’s.

I pray that that you have not merely gained knowledge. Instead as you have been learning, you have been challenged and changed to be the people we’ve been created to be by the power of the Holy Spirit who dwells within us. “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Rom 14;17)

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Andrew

PS If you are away this week, keep safe and alert on the roads.
