We are in Week 3 of our ‘Jesus I am’ series, this week Jesus says that He is the light of the world. Think about how powerful that is and what amazing news it is. In the world we live in today, we are frequently seeing crime and suffering of all types. Every time we look at the news it seems like there is so much pain.
While we may be surrounded by darkness, we must focus on the hope of the words of Jesus saying that He is the light.
I remember a time when we were growing up when we lost power in our home one night. As a kid it’s always super scary when your house is immediately filled with darkness. However as soon as we lit a candle, the light from that tiny little candle filled the whole room. I remember that feeling of comfort, safety and relief. Even a little light is powerful and always overcomes darkness.
If we allow Him into our lives, Jesus says that His light will shine so bright that darkness will not have any other choice but to leave. John 8:12 says, “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’”
When has Jesus been that light in the darkness – your comfort and hope – during a time or situation in your life?
