On Sunday we concluded our series ‘Jesus’ message to the Church’.
Over the past weeks we’ve had the opportunity to let Jesus look us right in the eye and say, “This is what is important to Me.” Jesus gave seven personal messages to seven different churches but also seven personal messages to us.
We’ve heard Him say, “I know how busy you are with family and other things but don’t forgot your first love” Rev 2:4.
We’ve heard Him say, “I know things are tough sometimes in your life. Some of you are going through some incredible suffering right now – physical, emotional, spiritual suffering but there is a future. There is a hope no matter what.” Rev 2:10
We’ve heard Jesus say, “Be careful who you choose to spend time with because this can determine the truth that you let in or don’t let in your life.” Rev 2:14-16
Jesus also told us “It hurts to see my people tolerate what they once thought was evil, to begin to accept it. You need to stay uncomfortable with all that violates my word.” Rev 2:20.
We’ve heard Jesus say to us, “If you feel like you’re not going to make it, don’t give up. Wake up to My love. Wake up to the truth of who I am and what I can do in your life.” Rev 3:2-3
Jesus also told us, “Things going great? Find your strength and your opportunities in Me alone.” Rev 3:8
And last Sunday we heard Jesus asking us, “How is your relationship with me going? Are you hot or cold? I wish you were either one or the other!” Rev 3:15
I think in the busyness of our lives it is good to take time out to ask how are we are going in our relationship with Jesus? As we close out this series let us remember the challenge of the words that Jesus uses to close his messages to the churches, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” Do we hear and obey?
