“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
I love that idea that his name shall be called wonderful…. When we look at the life of Jesus we can see that He indeed was wonderful.
His birth was wonderful. Jesus didn’t come with fanfare he was born in one of the poorest section of Israel, Bethlehem of Judea. No crowds watched for His arrival, even the shepherds had to be told to go and see Him. This was the Creator becoming a man.
Jesus was wonderful in his life. Even His enemies could not find any fault in Him. He was always helping others, and not once did He do anything for Himself. He healed the sick and He taught many people. His teachings were wonderful in what He taught as well as the way He taught. He taught about love and showed it with his actions. He taught the masses and taught one on one. He was not afraid to challenge that status quo in order to help people understand and experience life in it’s fullest.
If Jesus was wonderful in his life then his death and resurrection serve to magnify that statement. He willingly went to the cross for all of the things that we have done when we away from God’s purpose for our lives. He willingly gave everything for us and showed us love and then we showed us true power by conquering death. His resurrection gives us hope beyond the grave.
What he said happened! We can trust in Him completely. How wonderful to know that that when life seems to be spinning out of control, there is one who we can rely on fully.
