This Sunday we are continuing our new series diving into the Book of Acts.
The early church was just beginning and Luke faithfully records the events following Jesus’ ascension into heaven. Peter, who had once denied Jesus, whom Jesus then encourages to feed his sheep, now takes leadership. The young church was facing a vacancy in leadership and was still reeling from the betrayal of Jesus from one of their closest companions.
It is no accident that some of the first challenges facing the church were leadership decisions and dealing with the results of sin. God, who loves the church that Jesus died for, was preparing his followers for the coming of the Holy Spirit and the future of his mission on earth. He is preparing us as well and to prepare we need to follow the example of the disciples. They gathered as a community and pray for guidance.
In all that we do as a church I pray that we can gather and meet with Jesus as we seek his guidance for us as a church and in our lives.
Looking forward to seeing you Sunday.
